Getting from your apartment to the hospital

Hospital entrances, river crossings and daily travel.

For Guy’s Hospital, Native Bankside is about 17 minutes away on foot, on the same side of the Thames. Cheval Three Quays is about 22 minutes away, across the river. The estimates include the route to a bridge.

Use the entrance on your letter

GOSH’s main entrance is on Guilford Street. Cromwell’s main entrance is on Marloes Road, with another at Lexham Gardens. UCLH appointments take place across several sites.

Each hospital page gives the address used for its distance calculation. The walking-route link opens directions to that address; change it if your letter names another building.

Distance on this site

Each apartment card shows an estimated walking time and route distance. We use OpenStreetMap’s pedestrian network, routed with OSRM through FOSSGIS, including paths, crossings and bridges. The endpoints are mapped points near the apartment and hospital postcode centres, rather than surveyed front doors. Minutes are rounded up from the routing estimate.

The walking-route link opens directions using the apartment and hospital addresses. Change the destination if your appointment names another building. The estimates exclude rest stops and time inside buildings, and routes may include steps. They are not wheelchair-route assessments.

Step-free public transport

TfL’s journey planner has accessibility settings for routes, stations and stops. The nearest station may not be step-free. Kerbs, slopes and crossings between the stop and your destination need checking separately.

Taxis and private cars

At University College Hospital, private cars and taxis use Beaumont Place. The Euston Road bays are reserved for ambulances and patient transport. Save the collection point for your department as well as its arrival address.
