London Bridge and the route to Guy’s

Guy’s is the trust’s hospital at Great Maze Pond beside London Bridge. The main hospital and Cancer Centre have separate arrival arrangements. It is not the St Thomas’ campus at Westminster Bridge, despite the shared trust name.

Choosing which side of the Thames to stay

Native Bankside is south of the river; Cheval Three Quays is north of it. A crossing can add considerably to the journey despite a small straight-line distance. Compare the walking route and the apartment’s lift record before sending a shortlist, especially for several journeys in one week.

Finding the right building

The main address is Great Maze Pond, SE1 9RT. Keep the building, floor and department from your appointment letter together. A Cancer Centre visit can need a different entrance from the main hospital, so name the centre when planning a taxi journey.

Drop-off and collecting a patient

There are patient drop-off and collection bays at the main entrance. Give the driver Great Maze Pond and the building name. The Cancer Centre and main-hospital destinations should be checked separately with the department when somebody needs a short route from the car.

Parking is restricted

Hospital parking is limited to qualifying Blue Badge holders with an appointment that day, on a first-come basis. The car park is entered from Crosby Row, not St Thomas Street or Snowsfields. The hospital also identifies a public NCP car park by Snowsfields and Kipling Street, about five minutes away on foot.

London Bridge and step-free travel

London Bridge is the nearby rail and Tube hub. TfL lists step-free access for the Jubilee and Northern lines, with boarding arrangements depending on the line. Use the station’s signs and the step-free guide to choose the exit for the hospital rather than the riverfront.

Hospital switchboard: 020 7188 7188.
